BBDW 71 [Black Butterfly] - Nevereverland

Prev Chap Next Chap Section 81, 82, 83 & 84 (UNEDITED)  Translator's Notes and Confession So, I’m sure many of you aren’t aware but throughout this novel, the author left out a lot of pronouns because Korean speakers usually drop the pronouns whenever they can if both parties who are talking know what they’re talking about. Imagine me as a noob trying to translate sentences without pronoun but I still have to figure out who’s talking about whom/what all this time. In Korean, the sentences without pronouns are complete but translating those exact sentences without pronoun/subject in English is simply weird….. so I decided not to fill in the blank for you this time although I know who (because I’ve read everything) and I think the author did it on purpose. So, the *** is actually the pronoun that I left out intentionally. Korean depends a lot on context and gestures, meaning you have to read between the lines to understand. Okay you ca

"To the adults...... usually old men...... in a small room...... for an hour at a time, doing what they say." The child's face turned white. Jude hurriedly shook his hand and nodded, fearing that he would really vomit on the floor of the interrogation room if he pried further. "Yeah, I know what it is. There were kids like you?" "...yes, my mom got the money..... not me, there were kids like that." "Tyler was one of them." Joshua nodded. Jude nodded his head. Marilyn's colleagues seemed to know the reason for defending her. They were in a state of fifty-fifty, so what good would it be to push her away? It might be best for the women on the street to let Joshua be guilty. And for t

Glancing at the calmly seated Tim, trying to hide her uneasiness, Jude said lightly at Marilyn. "Well, can you name the teachers at Joshua's school?" "......what?" The woman asked back blankly. Tim also unwittingly looked back at his partner. Jude shrugged and repeated. "Joshua's school teachers. I'm sure you know some of them. He should’ve told you this and that." "Oh, it's..... Miller, Teacher Brandon Miller. He cares about him the most." Marilyn replied in a hurry. And there’s a few seconds of silence. Jude pressed for Marilyn, who had stiffened with a bewildered face. "And? Don't tell me he only tells his mother about one teacher. Tell me more."

Prev Chap Next Chap Section 74, 75 & 76.1 (UNEDITED) "What do you think, are Joshua's words true?"  "Not really." Jude's answer came back shortly with a new cup of coffee in his hand. Tim also narrowed his eyebrows and touched his jaw.   "There's something weird about him, too. It's strange that the perpetrator, who habitually beat, harassed and killed the child, now feels guilty and has come to confess." "I'm really weird about that mom. She said she was selling herself, and Joshua was born by mistake. But I can see that her affection for the child seems pretty abominable."  "But it's a mother-child relationship..." Jude shook his head half-heartedly. Tim stopped talking. "I'm negative. I'm not saying there can be no love for a child born by mistake, but that mother also has a pretty flashy record. There's a lot of trouble with drugs, theft, and injury.

Prev Chap Next Chap Section 72 & 73 (UNEDITED) Pushing their way through the onlookers, the two detectives approached the middle of the scene where people were snooping around. The crumpled body in the street bin was still small. Tim frowned. The smell of protein rotting struck his nose. There weren’t any maggots on the body. The glove-clad Jude approached the side of the trash can and turned it over carefully. The face was yet of a young boy. Staring at the faded pupils like dead fish eyes, Jude looked around carefully at the body that began to decay black and blue. "Is he beaten to death... and there are a lot of marks like that here and there. We'll have to move him to the autopsy room." "...he's still a little boy.....even in the back alley, how could they do that?" "Would people call it a back alley for no reason? Let's look around. We can't match his fingerprints since he’s underage, so we n

Entering the house without turning on the light, Jude flopped down on the sofa, puffing out a long breath. The cell phone he threw out of his pocket was already pointing to near midnight. He felt nauseated like he was drunk without actually drinking. Jude, who briefly laid his hand on the tumultuous stomach, raised one hand to cover his eyes. Woong. Wooong. The cell phone vibrated and moved little by little. Jude's shoulders flinched and jumped at the sudden sound that tears the air in the quiet room. The phone he glanced under his hand didn't come up with the name of the person he knew. Jude closed his mouth and looked at the broken clock on the wall. The dry, crooked sound of the second hand and the sound of the cell phone were strangely overlapping, stimulating his nerves. Jude's silent green gaze turned to the l
